Who am I?

I’m David Gould, a Brooklyn based vocalist, pianist, educator, and music director. Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and later the DC metro area, I came to NYC in 2020 after receiving a scholarship to The School of Jazz and Contemporary Music at The New School. Now graduated, with honors I teach young musicians at The Bay Ridge School of Music and play a wide variety of gigs in and around NYC. 

Whether holding down a classic cocktail piano set or driving high energy EDM tracks on synths, I’ve performed with acts including Muo Duo, Rxagxn, Amalthea, and The Lindsay West Experience. I was even featured on the TV show “Wonderama” playing with Muo Duo shot live from Times Square. I have also played in many theatrical productions including the off-Broadway show, Latin Lover. As a solo act I have also sung and played piano at many private events and establishments such as, the Walker Hotel, Wicked Willy’s, Book Club Bar and, in my Friday residency at Shaver Hall.

I also have experience as a musical director/producer, having directed and produced backing tracks for multiple musical theater productions at Hunter College. 

As an artist, you can find me tearing it up on keys and lead vocals with my Blues/Rock band The Third Rails. We’ve played at many notable venues in the city such as The Red Lion, The Bitter End, Arlene’s Grocery, Wicked Willy’s, and Shapeshifter Lounge, as well as weddings and private events throughout the NYC area. Looking forward, all I want is to continue to do what I love. I aspire to create experiences that resonate with the hearts of those who listen, play, or learn with me. In a world that often takes itself too seriously, with my music I hope to cut through the noise of everyday life and take myself and listeners back to the simple yet intangible experience of the here and now. I believe that through music, we can all discover the extraordinary in the ordinary.
